The Inkling - ‘Deluge’ album cover

This was actually the very first ‘real world’ design job I did after university (aside from the odd gig poster).

Their music can be described as eccentric (often spooky) progressive jazz? It’s tricky to describe—perhaps listen for yourself.

Anyway, having listened to the album a thousand times, this is what I came up with.

We had the luxury of a reasonable budget for the print—so we added a spot-UV layer to the print that targets only the rain-drops on the reverse side of the cover insert. The stock has a matte finish while the rain is glossy.
